We will be extending our current exhibition Prints and Fairy Tales until 21 May. Curated in partnership with Austin Desmond, the show features a selection of Modern British and International artists.
Featuring in the show are six etchings from David Hockney’s illustrations for Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm. Designed in 1969 and published by the Petersburg Press, Hockney made 39 Etchings for selected stories by the Brothers Grimm. The production of these images consumed much of Hockney’s year as he was engrossed in creating work based on stories that had intrigued him as a child. Included here are six prints from an editioned portfolio Hockney made to accompany the book.
Artists include: Louise Bourgeois, Victoria Burge, Patrick Caulfield, Prunella Clough, Leslie Cole, Tony Cragg, Lucian Freud, Richard Hamilton, Marcelle Hanselaar, David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin, William Kentridge, Alexander Massouras, Kate McCrickard, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, Eduardo Paolozzi, Bridget Riley, Dasha Shishkin, Ian Stephenson, John Stezaker, Julian Trevelyan, Euan Uglow.
