Poetic and Evocative This Dark Shore: Mythic Realism in the Work of Marcus Rees Roberts
An exhibition at Julian Page Projects reveals the haunting beauty of contemporary intaglio
I am delighted with Edward Winters’ review of This Dark Shore for Trebuchet Magazine.

“This exhibition at Julian Page Projects brings together various strands of his work. The gallery is a large airy space and the show is very well put together, accessible, engaging and beautiful; not despite but precisely because the themes are darkly poetic, even mythic. ‘The hang’ of the prints is particularly apt. Uncovered by glass, the prints are pinned to the wall and this gives their physicality pronouncement. It is difficult to resist feeling their surfaces; and it accentuates their diurnal character ―as if the glamour of fine art has climbed down from its pedestal.”
The exhibition is on until Saturday November 1.
