The poster was one of a series commissioned by the PSA to decorate government offices and factories. Other artists published in this series included Patrick Caulfield, Robyn Denny, Eduardo Paolozzi and Tom Phillips.
All of these are documented in Tessa Sidey's catalogue raisonne, Editions Alecto: Original graphics, multiple originals 1960-1981.
The edition size of the poster is listed as 'unlimited'. In fact the print run was limited to 1000 copies.
